Dorm, Sorted. is operated by Fred Langemark. This policy explains what information is processed when you use this website, contact us, or purchase through one of our storefronts.

Free downloads and the contact form

The free checklists on this website download directly. We do not require a name or email address and do not operate an email-marketing list. If you use the contact form, we collect the selected reason, reply email address, message, and any optional or reason-specific details you choose to provide. We use that information only to review and respond, provide support, process a privacy request, evaluate a clearly identified business inquiry, correct content, and maintain records reasonably needed for those purposes.

The form uses a necessary browser-session cookie named ds_contact_session for cross-site request protection, a short send cooldown, and the confirmation shown after a successful submission. The cookie is limited to the contact route, is not used for advertising or analytics, and expires when the browser session ends. Contact messages are delivered through the website host's email infrastructure.

Google reCAPTCHA v3 loads on the contact page as a necessary abuse-prevention service even if you decline Google Analytics. Google may process device and network information, including an IP address, under its Privacy Policy and Terms. The browser requests a short-lived token for the fixed contact action, and Dorm, Sorted. sends that token to Google for server-side verification. We check the returned success state, action, hostname, and risk score, but do not add the message contents, reply email address, name, or optional visitor IP field to the verification request.

Website delivery and security

When you request a page or file, the website’s hosting infrastructure necessarily processes technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time. Limited server logs may be retained for delivery, security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.

Dorm Plan Builder

The free Dorm Plan Builder does not require an account, name, or email address. Its answers and editorial item changes are stored in your browser’s local storage under ds_dorm_plan_v1 so the plan can survive a refresh, browser back and forward navigation, or a trip to the workbook checkout. Dorm, Sorted. does not receive that local-storage record. Use the planner’s clear action or your browser’s site-data controls to remove it.

Roommate Split Planner and Dorm Budget Calculator

The Roommate Split Planner stores editable role labels and one assignment per planning item under ds_roommate_split_v1. It does not request names, roommate contact details, or email addresses. Its share link uses encoded URL-fragment state and deliberately excludes the editable labels, move-in date, and budget values. Encoding is not encryption, so share the link only with people you trust.

The Dorm Budget Calculator stores user-entered estimates, quantities, already-owned choices, payer, priority, and buy-now or buy-later status under ds_dorm_budget_v1. Those exact values remain in the browser and in files the user deliberately exports; they are not included in behavioral analytics or a share URL. Clearing browser site data removes these local records.

If you create a roommate link, compact encoded plan choices are placed after #plan= in the URL. URL fragments are not sent to this website or included in normal referrer traffic. The shared state omits the move-in date and has no name or email field. Encoding is not encryption, so anyone who receives the link can read its non-personal planning choices. JSON and CSV exports are created on your device and may include the optional move-in date; you control where those files are stored or shared.

Purchases

Purchases are completed through Payhip or Etsy, depending on the storefront you choose. Those services and their payment providers collect and process the information required to complete the transaction, deliver the product, prevent fraud, and meet tax or legal obligations under their own privacy policies. Fred Langemark may receive customer and order details needed for fulfillment, support, recordkeeping, refunds, and legal compliance. Full payment-card numbers are not collected or stored on this website.

Analytics and cookies

With your permission, this website uses Google Analytics to understand visits and improve its content. Google Analytics may process information such as pages viewed, coarse interaction categories, approximate location, referring site, and browser or device information, and may use first-party cookies such as _ga to distinguish visits. Event properties are allowlisted and do not include names, email addresses, roommate labels, free text, school identifiers from a plan, item-level plan contents, or exact budget values. Page locations exclude URL fragments and arbitrary query values; only validated campaign slugs may be retained. External referrers are reduced to their origin. Learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services or use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google Analytics does not load unless you select “Accept analytics.” A necessary preference cookie named ds_analytics_consent stores “granted” or “denied” for up to 180 days so the site can remember your choice. It is not used to identify you. You can withdraw or change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Some articles contain affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon. If you follow one of those links, the retailer may process information needed to attribute a later purchase under its own privacy policy. See the affiliate disclosure for more information.

Retention, sharing, and your choices

Information is kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above or to meet legal, accounting, tax, fraud-prevention, and dispute-resolution obligations. It may be processed by the storefronts, analytics provider, hosting provider, and other service providers needed to operate the site and fulfill orders, or disclosed when required by law. We do not use customer information for our own email marketing or sell mailing lists.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection concerning your personal information, and to withdraw consent for analytics. To make a privacy request, use the privacy request form. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
