Keep the scope attached.
Use the preferred publisher name, stable URLs, dataset version, and cutoff date. Public access supports reading and citation; it is not a blanket license to republish the site, redistribute paid files, or use content for every machine-learning purpose.
Site and publisher: Dorm, Sorted.
Preserve the comma and final period when prose and citation formats allow. Link to the exact canonical page you used rather than a search result, screenshot, or copied excerpt.
How to cite the Dorm Rules Index
The recommended citation for the current immutable release is:
Dorm, Sorted. (2026). Dorm, Sorted. Dorm Rules Index (Version 1.0.0; data cutoff August 19, 2026). https://dormsorted.com/research/dorm-rules-index/
When citing an individual rule, include its record ID, institution and scope label, dataset version, cutoff date, and the adjacent official source URL. Add your own access date when your style guide requires one. Do not replace the fixed data cutoff with the access date.
Open the stable version 1.0.0 JSON or read every record in ordinary HTML.
Dataset versioning
Each Dorm Rules Index release has a semantic version, publication date, cutoff date, versioned JSON and CSV files, and release notes. A published version is not silently rewritten. Corrections or later evidence require a new release or an explicitly documented retirement.
Version 1.0.0 was published on with a evidence cutoff. See the research methodology and version history.
Content and data reuse boundaries
You may link to public pages, cite them, quote limited passages where applicable law permits, and download the public dataset files for analysis. Public access does not grant an open license to republish or resell substantial portions of the site or dataset, present modified data as an official Dorm, Sorted. release, or use Dorm, Sorted. branding as an endorsement. Contact us before broader republication or redistribution.
Official university facts and source documents remain attributable to their publishing institutions. Keep the institution, scope, conditions, source URL, and verification date with any rule-level reference; do not turn an included-campus record into a national or system-wide claim.
Paid workbook PDFs are private products with their own personal-use license and are never part of the public feed, dataset, sitemap, or llms.txt. Crawler access, a robots directive, or inclusion in llms.txt is a technical discovery signal—not a copyright license, training permission, promise of search inclusion, or promise of citation.
Correction requests
Report the dataset version, record ID, disputed wording, and an official university or housing source when available. A report never edits the dataset directly; it triggers the same fail-closed verification process and, if needed, a new immutable version. Do not send names, student records, housing assignments, access codes, roommate details, or screenshots containing private information.
Follow the public corrections process. Include the page or record URL, the wording at issue, and an official source when available.
